Q4: Study of Slavery

Even though slavery ended 150 years ago, why is it important that we study the history of slavery and the slave trade?

  1. We need to learn about slavery and the slave trade to inform us about our history and what the people of the world are capable of. We also need to learn about how unfair the slaves were treated and we need to learn that everyone is equal. We also need to learn about the beginning of our country and the part that they played in the beginning of our country.

  3. By Learning about slaver we prevent history from repeating its self. Also we see how the slaves are a big portion in the colonies success. It also make us aware that equality is important in our lives today.

It's important because we can look back on it, and find that we thought that color and being the same as everyone else was the most important thing ever, which blind-sighted our common sense and was replaced with greed, which caused them to want money faster. This greed led to people wanting that money faster and to flow more efficiently, so they kidnapped, tortured and sold people, just like us, so they're greed could be fed and increase.

  5. Much like The Holocaust, it's important to educate people about propaganda like this to learn from our mistakes and to make sure we won't do something like this in the future. It is also important in a sense of mourning the ones we've lost and pay our respects.

  6. It is important to learn about the slave trade and slavery so then we don't let it happen again in our life. It shows us the cruelty of what our nation is capable of and how to stop something like slavery. It gives us an insight to how important freedom in our country is and why we need to keep it. It gives us a lesson to treat everyone equally even though we aren't all the same.

  7. I think it's important to study slavery and the slave trade because we have to understand the past to get to the future. Plus, a lot of our family history was during this time and it's interesting to learn about our past. There are many good morals to history that can help us in our everyday life today, so that is just a few reasons why I think learning about slavery and the slave trade is important.

It's important to know this so history can not take a turn for the worst and these horrible ideas that humans thought of occur again. Those people did not deserve what they received back then, and no one does today, either.
